Daily rituals and plain-language notes for mindful living

Compare two online therapy subscriptions, a meditation app, and three wellness products without a fake star rating. Prices are the providers’ published ranges. We have not been paid to rank anyone.

Online therapy and mindful practice

Three different products that get lumped together

BetterHelp and Talkspace are therapy subscriptions. Headspace’s app is a guided practice. Do not pay therapy prices for an app, and do not expect an app to be a clinician.

BetterHelp

A flat weekly therapy price

Direct

An online therapy subscription. BetterHelp’s own pricing page describes a weekly rate that usually falls between $70 and $100, billed weekly or about every four weeks, and says the quote you see at signup depends on location, preferences, and therapist availability.

What it is
Therapy subscription, not a meditation app
Published price
About $70–$100 per week
Insurance
Plan- and state-specific. BetterHelp says eligible members average about a $23 copay.
Matching
A questionnaire during signup. We do not quote a minute count.
Crisis line
No. Use 988 in the US if you are in danger.

Worth knowing

  • The company publishes a flat weekly range instead of a per-session surprise.
  • The standard plan is described as a live session plus messaging.
  • You can ask to switch therapists inside the product.

Limits

  • Your price is set at signup and can sit anywhere in that wide range.
  • Many people still pay the subscription. Coverage is not universal.
  • In March 2023 the FTC settled with BetterHelp over sharing visitor data for advertising and required $7.8 million in payments. Read that order before you type health details into a form.

Talkspace

Checking insurance before you pay cash

Direct

Online therapy with published out-of-pocket tiers. Talkspace’s help center lists messaging therapy from $69 per week, video plus messaging from $99 per week, and a workshop tier from $109 per week. Psychiatry is priced separately and costs more.

What it is
Therapy subscription with a messaging-only tier
Published price
From $69, $99, or $109 per week out of pocket
Insurance
Talkspace says many plans cover therapy at a low copay, often around $10, sometimes $0. Confirm your plan.
Matching
Plan choice, then a match. An insurance check can add a step.
Crisis line
No. Use 988 in the US if you are in danger.

Worth knowing

  • The cash prices are published as tiers, so messaging-only is a smaller commitment.
  • Insurance is a real path here, not a footnote.
  • Couples therapy and psychiatry exist as separate products with their own prices.

Limits

  • Live sessions cost more than messaging-only.
  • Couples therapy starts much higher. Talkspace lists it from $436 per month out of pocket.
  • A copay quote on a marketing page is not a guarantee for your plan.

Headspace

A guided practice when you do not need a therapist

Direct

A meditation and mindfulness app. It is not a substitute for care from a licensed clinician. Headspace has also sold therapy in some states. That is a different product with different pricing. Confirm which one you are buying.

What it is
Meditation app. Therapy, where offered, is separate.
Published price
On Headspace’s site. We are not quoting a stale app price.
Insurance
Not how the meditation subscription is usually sold.
Matching
No therapist match for the app. You can start a session the same day.
Crisis line
No.

Worth knowing

  • You can try a short practice without a weekly therapy bill.
  • Useful when the goal is a routine, not treatment.
  • Easy to tell apart from the two therapy subscriptions above.

Limits

  • An app subscription does not treat depression, anxiety, or any other condition.
  • If a screen offers therapy or psychiatry, stop and read that price on its own.
  • We have not audited the current trial terms.

Self-care shelf

Memberships and subscriptions worth reading before you join

These are products, not treatment. We did not receive a sample box, a free trial, or a fee to write the notes.

Thrive Market

Organic pantry staples on a membership

Direct

A membership grocery for organic and specialty food. You pay a membership fee before the catalog prices mean anything. This is not a therapy service and not a supplement prescription.

What it is
Membership grocery
Published price
Confirm the current membership fee on Thrive Market.
Ships
Pantry and household goods, not a clinician
Cancel
Read the current renewal terms before you join.
Health claim
None from us. Food is not treatment.

Worth knowing

  • One membership covers a large labeled catalog.
  • Fits a household that already orders dry goods online.
  • Easy to ignore if you will not place repeat orders.

Limits

  • The fee is wasted if you shop once and stop.
  • Shipping minimums and member prices move.
  • We have not placed an order.

Ritual

A multivitamin with a published formula

Direct

A subscription vitamin brand. Ritual publishes ingredients and sourcing. That is a reason to read the label, not a reason to treat it as medical care. Confirm the current formula and monthly price on their site.

What it is
Subscription multivitamin
Published price
Confirm the current monthly price on Ritual.
Formula
Published by the brand. It changes. Read the bottle you would actually buy.
Testing
We have not taken it and we are not quoting lab results.
Health claim
None. This does not diagnose or treat a deficiency.

Worth knowing

  • The ingredient list is public, which many vitamin labels are not.
  • A subscription can be paused. Confirm that in checkout.
  • Traceable enough to compare with a product your clinician already recommended.

Limits

  • A multivitamin is not a test for a deficiency and not a treatment plan.
  • Subscription renewals are easy to forget.
  • Price and formula on this page would go stale, so we are not printing either.

Calm

Sleep stories and sound, not a sleep drug

Direct

An app of meditations, sleep stories, and soundscapes. It is not a sleep aid you swallow, not melatonin, and not a diagnosis of insomnia. Confirm the current subscription price on Calm’s site.

What it is
Audio app for rest and meditation
Published price
Confirm the current plan on Calm.
Effect
A wind-down routine. Not a medicine.
Start
Download and play. No therapist match.
Health claim
None from us.

Worth knowing

  • You can use it tonight without a clinic visit.
  • Clear alternative if what you want is quieter evenings, not therapy.
  • No pill, no dose, no supplement stack.

Limits

  • Audio will not fix a medical sleep disorder.
  • The trial and annual price need to be read at checkout.
  • We have not reviewed the current catalog episode by episode.

How to read this page

  • A published range is not your quote. The number that matters is the one on the provider’s checkout.
  • Nothing here is a star rating, a verified review, or a clinical outcome.
  • Cards marked Affiliate can pay this site a commission. Cards marked Direct cannot. Today, check the badge on the card.
  • If you only remember one line: a meditation app, a vitamin, and a therapist are three different purchases.
